The Ivens is a five-star hotel set in an iconic 19th-century building in Lisbon with 87 rooms, a buzzing bar and fun jungle vibes.
We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast at Vermelho. Highlights included the array of Portuguese and French pastries that were brought to your table and the perfectly cooked a-la-carte eggs. Breakfast was delicious but also beautifully arranged, featuring tableware from Vida Dura.
Elisabeth Lincot's installation, Lagrima de Loros, graces an exterior hearth at Vermelho with glazed and colourful ceramic bird heads.

Inspired by the expeditions of 19th-century explorers Roberto Ivens and Hermenegildo Capelo, the hotel's decoration pays homage to Portugal's Golden Age of Discovery. All of the 87 rooms, 10 of which are suites, pay are decorated in the colours and materials of the period. With views of the city or river, they are all lit by Lisbon's beautiful light.
