33 Glamping and Cabin Hideaways in Portugal to Reconnect with Nature
On JO&SO, we always try to find special places to stay in Portugal – be it a small boutique hotel, a simple guesthouse or a fancy five-star hotel. What matters to us is their character (more on that here). Our pick of places reflects how we travel when we go abroad; we enjoy mixing it up.
But one of the things we’ve been eager to do, and perhaps this got amplified during the pandemic, is to discover more glamping experiences such as luxurious tents and yurts, eco-lodges and remote cabins in Portugal.
We started to research and add spots to this watchlist a while back. It was getting pretty long, so this is actually our short list of the Glamping and Cabin Hideaways in Portugal to Reconnect with Nature. The choices are based on the overall design and style, guest reviews, location and how much it makes us think, “I want to go there”.
It’s all about understated luxury. Think true farm-to-table experiences, no sounds but for nature and night skies like no others.
We will be honest. We love the idea of being immersed and surrounded by nature. Turning off our phones sounds incredible. But we adore comfy beds, private bathrooms, and so on.
From cosy bell tents in Portuguese cork oaks forests to romantic yurts surrounded by palm tree plantations, we are now ready to release our inner (slightly urbanised) Tarzans.

Fall asleep to the soundtrack of crashing waves. Wake up, drink your coffee and step out onto the beach. Even though you will feel a world away, Costa da Caparica is only a 30-minute drive from Lisbon (if you’re lucky with the traffic, that is).
