In the heart of Ponta Delgada, Nine Dots Azorean Art Boutique Hotel showcases Azorean artistry and features a small but wonderful spa.

Located in the historic centre of Ponta Delgada, Nine Dots Azorean Art Boutique Hotel is housed in two restored buildings.

There are 36 rooms, thoughtfully designed using basalt stone, local woods, and colours inspired by the islands’ agricultural heritage dating back to the 15th century.

Paintings, sculptures, literature, and handcrafted pieces by Azorean artists and artists with Azorean roots, fill the common areas and some of the rooms. The hotel also supports emerging artists by hosting pop-up exhibitions in its gallery spaces.

A big highlight for us during our visit to Nine Dots, was the Roman-style indoor heated saltwater pool, tucked under gorgeous basalt and ignimbrite arches. Visiting late in the evening—twice—with the space all to ourselves was pure bliss. The pool features water jets, jacuzzi nozzles, and leg and back massage sets. There’s also a powerful Turkish steam room and a range of treatments incorporating Azorean essences.

The on-site ETC. Osteria Bar serves Italian-inspired dishes made with fresh Azorean ingredients, as well as creative signature cocktails. Other communal spaces include the terrace garden, which features endemic plants and basalt pavements, and a cosy reading corner—perfect for a quiet moment.

Bear in Mind
