We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast at Vermelho. Highlights included the array of Portuguese and French pastries that were brought to your table and the perfectly cooked a-la-carte eggs. Breakfast was delicious but also beautifully arranged, featuring tableware from Vida Dura.

Quinta de São Bernardo is a boutique farmhouse hotel in the Douro with a rich history dating back to 1912 when it served as a family farmhouse.

There are seven rooms in the main house, plus two villas with a small private pool in an adjacent building. Additionally, the hotel boasts a farm-to-table restaurant with an organic garden, an infinity pool overlooking the Douro River, and a winery. All the rooms feature luxury amenities; some have private terraces, river views, and vintage clawfoot bathtubs.

Take a dip in the infinity pool before enjoying a light lunch and a refreshing glass of rosé amidst fruit trees and the fragrance of thyme and lavender. Or relax in the cosy communal living room with a good glass of wine, board games or a game of pool.
