Quinta do Vallado
Quinta do Vallado is a beautiful boutique hotel in one of the oldest and most famous wine estates in Douro Valley.
Quinta do Vallado is a boutique wine hotel established in 1716. It is one of the oldest and most famous Quinta estates in the Douro Valley, in northern Portugal.
There are five rooms in an original 18th-century manor house and eight in a new wing designed by architect Francisco Vieira de Campos. Some of the rooms have a balcony with great views of the vineyards.
The living room and restaurant located in the new wing are decorated in an impeccable Scandinavian style. The picturesque garden features a lovely sun terrace with an outdoor pool.
We have been here twice and are looking forward to our third visit. It's really a very special place.
Awesomeness
Fill your soul with the wonderful views of the Douro.
The chance to visit one of the region's most advanced wineries with state-of-the-art technology.
Complimentary wine tour with a delicious tasting session at the end.
The buffet breakfast is excellent.
The rooms are super comfortable. We stayed in the new wing which we highly recommend.
Bear in Mind
The 1h15 drive from Porto is one of the most scenic routes in Portugal.
Dinner is a delicious set menu which includes seasonal produce from the estate's gardens. You can order tapas and wine to enjoy on your balcony if you fancy something lighter. We did that over sunset and absolutely loved it.
The pool is not heated.

Q&A with Francisco Ferreira about Quinta do Vallado
Quinta do Vallado is a boutique hotel located in the Douro wine region of northern Portugal

There are plenty of options to explore the Douro wine region, with hiking trails and river fishing nearby. The hotel provides bicycles which can be used free of charge. After an active day, relax at the SPA or at the library.
The cosy and stylish living room will go down a treat during those colder days. It features a fireplace and a great selection of books and board games – all of which goes exceptionally well with an excellent glass of wine from Quinta do Vallado's own winery.
We recommend taking a boat tour up the beautiful and historic Douro River, one of the most beautiful regions of Portugal.
Foodies will be spoilt for choice. There are some excellent restaurants in Douro. We highly recommend DOC Restaurant (9.5km, 11 min drive), from one of Portugal's most renowned chefs Rui Paula, and Castas & Pratos in Régua (3km, 5 min drive).
The drive from Porto to Vallado (120km) is one of the most scenic routes in Portugal.

Chill by the charming pool surrounded by orange trees and appreciate its stunning views. There's a pool bar serving delicious tapas.

A wine tour is included in the room rate, and should not be missed.

At the end you will be offered a tasting session.
